The IPM Partnership Grants Program

This program was new in 2004. Funds were awarded to sixteen projects in several categories. Information about specific projects can be found here.

Center staff develops the Request for Applications that is released in the autumn of each year. Project types include:

  • IPM Working Groups
  • State Network Projects
  • Regional IPM Publications
  • IPM Planning and Assessment Documents (Crop profiles, PMSPs, IPM Guideline, and IPM surveys)
  • IPM Issues (formerly IPM Priorities)
  • Minigrants (approximately $40,000 available annually)

The Northeastern Regional IPM Competitive Grants Program (RIPM-Northeast)

The RIPM program funds IPM projects in research and extension, with project limits as high as $180,000 depending on project type and number of states involved. In an average year, approximately $600,000 is awarded to an average of between 4 and 10 projects.

RIPM Requests for Applications usually are released in September or October. In recent years a brief letter of intent has been required. These letters are used only to help us develop a review panel with appropriate expertise. Complete proposals have generally been required in early to mid-December.

In recent years this grants program has utilized a two-step review process. A relevance panel, with members from within the northeastern region, reviews the relevance statement submitted with each proposal. This panel addresses the question "is the issue addressed by this proposal important to the region?". A technical panel, consisting of experts in IPM-related disciplines from outside the region, reviews full proposals for technical merit. This panel addresses the question "is the project likely to successfully address the issue?" To be funded a proposal must be acceptable by both panels.

Information about projects funded by this program since 1996 is available here.

Green Blue Grants Program

The Northeastern IPM Center launched the Green-Blue Grants Program to promote clean water through residential IPM. Funded projects will focus on teaching about residential integrated pest management and how it affects water quality in the Northeast. The goal of this program is to raise the level of education among northeastern residents by funding specific educational workshops and promotional materials. This program will help strengthen the communication networks in the Northeast and residents’ ability to implement IPM. The deadline for this program has past, but you can see more about this program at the Summit home page.
