The RIPM program funds IPM projects in research and extension,
with project limits as high as $180,000 depending on project type
and number of states involved. In an average year, approximately
$600,000 is awarded to an average of between 4 and 10 projects.
RIPM Requests for Applications usually are released in September or October.
In recent years a brief letter of intent has been required. These letters
are used only to help us develop a review panel with appropriate expertise.
Complete proposals have generally been required in early to mid-December.
In recent years this grants program has utilized a two-step review process.
A relevance panel, with members from within the northeastern region, reviews
the relevance statement submitted with each proposal. This panel addresses
the question "is the issue addressed by this proposal important to
the region?". A technical panel, consisting of experts in IPM-related
disciplines from outside the region, reviews full proposals for technical
merit. This panel addresses the question "is the project likely to
successfully address the issue?" To be funded a proposal must be
acceptable by both panels.
Information about projects funded by this program since 1996 is available
